I DO NOT MISS MEAT

I DO NOT MISS MEAT

Before two months ago, I never appreciated eating a green salad. I must have meat and lots of the stuff. A man eating meat was a real man in my opinion and one eating a lot of green salad or “grass” as I used to style it, was closer to a goat.

But you know sometimes some dramatic change happens in your life that can cause you to turn around in the middle of the road. I am a prostate cancer survivor, and you would think that that would be the dramatic change that caused me to start eating more green leafy vegetables. You would be wrong, as I continued to eat a lot of meat albeit organic. Grass fed was better and I made sure that my fish wasn’t farm raised either.

However a trip to the doctor recently confirmed a high blood pressure reading that was supposed to give me either a heart attack or a stroke. The doctor was so concerned and wanted to give me medications (which I refused). My doctor had given me a list of things to avoid while I naturally treat the problem, one of which was animal fats.

That was over two months ago.

That was when I summarily stop eating meats like beef, pork and chicken. I still eat fish and especially enjoy those I catch myself from their natural environments being a lake or the sea. Two months ago I weighed 197lbs.  Today I weighed 182lbs., a drop of 15lbs. so far. My blood pressure has improved tremendously and bordering on the threshold of 120/80. My wife commends me daily on the almost flat stomach I have, and I do not feel like I am carrying twins anymore. She has even said I almost look like the person she first met.

It was a drastic step indeed from eating so much meat every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to no meat at all. I have certainly cut out the meat middle-man and now get my proteins from peas and beans and other legumes, which form a side dish to my dinner.

I have no regrets as my renewed energy enables me to move faster; even my head seems to be clearer. I eat all varieties of vegetables like lettuce, cabbage, onions, mushrooms, chives, broccoli, celery tomatoes, and cucumbers. A significant part of this combination is tofu and avocado. I spice it up with garlic and other herb spices, and throw in a handful of Quaker Natural Granola. I would then drizzle a tablespoon or two of Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, and dinner is served. Just like that.

So “Hear ye! Hear ye! Hear ye!” Good health does not come naturally on this side of Armageddon! It is elusive and hidden. However you have the power to effect any change you want or have to enjoy a better standard of health. A big shout out to all those who have done so! And whether you like it or not I am welcoming myself to the vegetarian club.

Quite frankly I DO NOT MISS MEAT.
I proved that in a most conclusive way when I tried to eat a piece of my once favorite Jerk Pork. I twirled it around in my mouth for an unusually long time for me and finally had to force it down my throat.

I do not even have a problem with my meat-eating, barbequing, grill-jerking and campfire-roasting buddies. You see I am the pit master at most events if not all and I always have a couple salmon steak or tuna steak that I would flick out for myself. At the rate of which I have to fand them off like flies from tasting mine to the finish, I might even be able to convert most of them.  I can see one though from Philly who might say not a chance of a snow ball in hell, or not even when he has false teeth.

So why am I sharing this?
It is with the hope I may strengthen another one to step up to the podium of good health.

Please read my survival story in Prostate Cancer And Me…Or You, The Two Stages (Man To Man) and other thoughts in Its On Now And The Face Of Faces available at this link Amazon Author Central.

Next time I will reveal my juicing technique I used to fight blood pressure and the one that work so beautifully for me, and many others including my sister. If you need that info now you can contact me on my contact page. Until then friends, walk good and pack light.

I AM CANCER

The following is written in the commemoration of the death of a friend from prostate cancer. This is in hope of warning others about the disease and possibly save a man’s life or the life of another friend. That is the reason why it is also written in red. Please read and share. Click for video option.

I AM CANCER

I am cancer
I eat at the soul like termites
Quiet and sunken deep
You have no knowledge
I’ll soon make you weep

I am cancer
Been devastating your nation
Been roaming from generation to generation
Been making money for corporations
While the hapless have no notion

I am cancer
Making you sick from the food you eat
With pesticides hormones and steroids
My sleuths are at my sides
I just love your organs and glands
I can bring a man down to his face
And a woman down to her knees
In the prostate and in the breast
My insidious works will be manifest
If you don’t know now you soon will know
As my poison is hereditary
And in your off springs grow
More woes will be your chorus
As no cure for my malady
See you looking at a wooden box
Wondering why he has to leave us

I am cancer
Weakening your system
Causing complications deep within
Stealth is my manner
In your bones I take cover
Doctors may get a peek
From screening and tests
to prevent from spreading
They will do their best

But you stay home anyway
Maybe he is far away
Soon you’ll be far gone
Like dew on early morn
So keep drinking poison in slurps
Meats that are processed
And foods that are shelved
Parts or whole in diet
And I’ll soon make riot
Compromise your health
And put you on a bench
Another notch to my weapon
Yes am the uncontrolled felon

Exercise neither
Watch television more
Maybe my friend the heart attack
Will get you too
Frankly no survival
For this many you

If I miss you by an act of providence
Your child may be next
They can’t wait to be grown
Puberty early
Organs weak and compromised
From modern eating styles
You haven’t a clue
Do you
And won’t listen
What to do

Keep putting head in sand
Like a stupid bird ostrich
Once I got you by the foot
Another victim to the ill-health trick
You will manage disease
The wrong way please
What about prevention
Is that too harsh to mention

Get sick and spend money
Drain your life savings
Your corner is darker
If the insurer no answer
Best for you to die quick
And the gift of life
Forget about it

I am cancer you see
Of which there is no will to cure
Rich doesn’t matter worse if you poor
Many more will have to suffer many more will cry
Until God steps in
Many more will have to die

I am cancer
Enemy and foe
One obviously common
Riding your bandwagon
So nice to see you
Fighting one another
While I raise a storm
  See me slap leather

I am cancer I say
Watching you in the eye
But you just wave
And merry gone by
Today you’ll eat today you’ll drink
Make your heart happy
When the Joes are sloppy
Think there is no consequence
That is nonsense

I am cancer
The black hoarse of death
No worries, say no fret
Pay no attention
You big bad man

Soon though you could have a last breath
From a debilitating fight
That was your plight

Because I am cancer
What is my makeup and will
To just kill, kill! Kill! Kill!

Even if you survive
You may only be half alive
And must always watch your back
Am always on the attack
As guess what
Until they cure me
I’ll always be
Hurting you
Hurting you… hurting you

Or better yet
Killing you
Killing you… killing you.
