Usually this topic represents some romanticized story of a cowboy novel or movie where he whistled and his trusted horse comes galloping to save him. One fortunate cowboy in tragedy could drop from a window, into the saddle, or the horse would give him the reigns for him to hold onto, and be pulled away from sure catastrophe.
This story of a horse saving its owner has been overplayed and outplayed in horse stories until now.
Funny enough those stories are often times rehearsed, to be performed by a trained horse. If they happen in actuality I know of no footage that documents that, leaving the cynic in me all by itself, to say it never happened.
A Real Horse story
However lets continue the horse story albeit this one real. This true story of a horse that saved his owner from cancer.
Both horse and rider have true and real names which will not be divulged here for obvious reasons. To keep the anonymity the location and area will not even be mentioned. Well…you might say without such information that is just another horse story, and that I might be making this up.
I must assure you that I do not have such imaginative powers and also that I will not associate myself with lies. My belief in the truth and telling the truth is based off the fact that lies originate with the devil and I do not wish to have any lot nor part with that oppose of truth (John 8:44).
Here Is The Truth:
A friend of mine that I work with on a regular basis went riding his horse one fateful morning. Upon his return he finds that his pee was red. He had not eaten any beet root nor anything that could contribute to this discoloration of his urine. It persisted to the point where it jolted his realization that something was wrong down there, and ushered him to his doctor for one of those infrequent visits. After tests, it was concluded that he had bladder cancer.
Fortunately this stage of the cancer is very treatable and he does not have to die from it. Now this story will never make the news. You see, this is not a one horse town where a stray dog could make headline. This story may not even have any use to someone who does not care about their health, or who has concluded that they are going to die one day anyway.
This story may not even appeal to would be horse lovers as from their standpoint nothing extraordinary has been done by the horse.
Seeing Things Differently
However me and my quirky sense of humor see things differently. Indeed my friend this story may only appeal to survivors like myself of the dreaded cancer disease. Survivors like myself who has caught the missile before it impacted and could diffuse it. Quirky sense of humor or not, undeniably the horse saved his behind, or his (you know what).
A real horse story! This is the one I will tell my boys so that they get a horse and ride it too. For who knows! if they do not grow up to want to go to the doctor once every twelve months like most men, they might need a horse to save their behind too. This horse story because it is the truth, has the lasting effect on a man’s life and his family whom he loves and cares for. It will be the only horse saving story I will remember in the years to come, and might even tell it to others so that those who do not have a horse can get off their (You know what) and go get themselves check.
In my humble opinion this is the horse that should be embossed with the health sign of two snakes around a pole hanging from its neck with the man on his back, and erected in center city, instead of the one with the man on his back with the sword.
Yes indeed! As the hapless pass by they could see this effigy remembering that they should take action for good health by eating right and exercising... and yes! See a doctor soon. Most important they will realize by that statue, that they should get off their rear end (or you know what) before it is too late.

Until such time friend… pack light and walk good.
