A lot has been said about Cayenne Pepper. I wish to put my two cents worth in the jar of information though, as I have been a direct benefactor of the healing properties of the spice.
About five years ago my mother cured a bad knee of mine by the use of a combination of Cayenne Pepper, Olive Oil, and Cabbage. Not only was the combination a tasty (spicy) treat but after a long time with a problematic knee that renders me haltingly in my procedures, to going up the stairs like an old man, I was cured almost overnight by this application.
What my mother did was to cut up the cabbage in fine pieces to get the juice saturated but not flowing. She then sprinkled enough Cayenne Pepper on to change the color to a reddish hue, and drizzle a tea spoon of olive oil on top then the mixed all three.
The next step was to paste this on a sheet of plastic wrap. This was then wrapped around my knee and then banded in place by a knee wrap. By the time the next morning came around my pains had significantly disappeared where I could come down and go up the stairs without holding the rails.
Here is something that my mother didn’t tell me though, that in the night when sleeping I would feel like someone was jabbing my knee joint with heated hammers. The heat had started slow like the distant hum of an approaching aircraft then building up to its crescendo as the night got on. I knew that it had to be doing some good. I just had that feeling, so I stiffed it out, until it gradually went away like the disappearing aircraft. There was no pudginess around my knee after that either, and till today my knee continues to be well. Indeed, I can walk good.
Cayenne pepper! I grew up in Jamaica with the stuff but had no knowledge of its worth. I remembered my father swallowing one every now and then, but mostly it was avoided because of the heat that it packed. That was one spicy little bugger for real! The Jamaican variety is much smaller than any other I have seen. they are in fact no bigger than the average capsule size, but boy they burn like a baby!
I remember the name we called it was Bird Pepper, as no one usually had to plant it. It would usually just appear, particularly on a piece of cleared land. Assumedly a bird had eaten it and dropped some seed and it would pop up. It was kind of strange though, this philosophy, as a piece of cleared land where it would grow was usually rocky. Strange as it seemed though this tree of Bird Pepper would always find a piece of dirt among the rocks deep enough to sprout and support a big enough tree. So for all “practical purposes” the bird that dropped the seed there must be a good farmer indeed! Or one with special knowledge of Botany.
While you are figuring that one out here is a quote for you “…Here I have given to you all vegetation bearing seed which is on the surface of the whole earth and every tree on which there is the fruit of a tree bearing seed, to you let it serve as food” Genesis 1:29. Reference is also made of tree for the curing of a nation at Rev. 22:2.
So while you figure that one out, if you are in pains in the knees you might want to try my mother’s method.
Another significant use for Cayenne is in averting the discomforts of menstrual pains. My wife had become a recent believer of that when on my recommendation she popped two Cayenne (Cool Cayenne) without he heat that boils the stomach. This was like a last resort before going back to the temporary relief of the over the counter pain killers. She loves me now though as I am not the pain, but the one who cures her pain of this monthly harassment.
So there you have it two personal experiences of the curative powers of Cayenne (Bird) Pepper.
