Gimme Some Earthworms and Termites

A good lady I know died last week at 94 years old. She was cracking jokes in her last throes of life when she told her son’s wife that her son couldn’t sing.

Her son knew she was dying.  Everyone knew she was dying. She was in and out of consciousness and on one of those conscious moments she had heard her son croaked this song ROCK -A –BY- BABY IN A TREE TOP.  The song was the same one she used to sing to him when he was a baby. As he rubbed her forehead and sang, I mean croaked, he had no idea she was hearing. Afterwards it was his wife’s turn to visit her on that hospice bed, without opening her eyes she said “David can’t sing”.

A few things are unique about this woman. The first I mentioned already that she was a wise cracker and that she lived to 94 years, but the other is that she used to eat dirt and lots of it. She personally told me that hadn’t she had the wherewithal to eat dirt she would not have survived when she had no one to take care of her, when she was abandoned as a child.

Mineral Composition of Earth

A lot of people might say oh how unfortunate she was! But remember this… she lived to 94 years and was not sick in her entire life. Am I saying that eating dirt gave her longevity? Of course not… but can it be discounted? could be the other question.

This beautiful lady also told me that had she not eaten dirt she would have died from hunger and starvation. It seems so reasonable as when we look at the composition of dirt it significantly correlates to the composition of the human body. (Human body vs earth composition). I am not surprised at this as the good book says that we were created from the ground.

Earth Worms and Proteins

Most survivor experts in fact all survivor experts will attest to the fact that these creepy crawlers are imbued with proteins and can, and have saved many lives when there is nothing else to eat. I myself have not eaten worms (Yet) but am completely open to consume those crawly slimy buggers at a moments notice. My wife on the other hand would rather die first, even when a little hot sauce should make it go down good. And if hot sauce doesn’t work, Walkerswood Jerk Seasoning from Jamaica should. Yeah mon! I am prepared to even jerk dem suckers.

Bugs and Termites

I have already eaten bugs like cricket and Parchcorns (June Beetle). This June Beetle gets its Jamaican name of Parchcorn, from the popping sound they make when they hit the fire. This is not a Jamaican thing, i.e. eating Parchcorns, but I couldn’t say no to the culinary adventure that was presented to me by some Mexican buddies in California. The treats of crickets and Parchcorns, on separate occasions were crispy, tasty and spicy and went well with Mexican Carona beer.

Food is undoubtly the staff of life, and if we have to have longevity it makes sense to be careful about what to eat, especially when foods are killing us, and causing cancers with their chemicals and growth enhancers. I couldn’t say it better than this article linked here for your edification (Termites and Earthworms as Potential Alternative source of Protein...)

So all the incentives are there. Earthworms and those bugsies are cheaper to come by than all other meats, and are one hundred percent better for you. If you do not have a backyard where you can trap or invite insects you can grow your own earth worms in your basement or anywhere that you can cut a drum pan and put earth in. I have seen this done to supply worms to bait shops for money and it actually made a striving business.  But how about for food? Especially when we have to survive in these critical times hard to deal with.

Conclusion
So if you catch my drift…mother earth provides everything good for you. From edible dirt, to bugs, worms, grass, you name it.

It’s a pity we continue to kill it and ourselves in the process, by dumping chemicals, agricultural runoffs etc. in it. However when in doubt go get some bugs and worms, they usually live and abide in the pristine parts of the earth.

Yes I am a survivor. I like the idea of surviving. Please see my survival story entitled Prostate Cancer And Me…Or You (The Two Stages) Man to Man (also in audio) and Supplemental poetry works In Its On Now and The Face Of faces, at Amazon Author Central.

So until no resident will say I am sick, and food flows over the mountain top, walk good and pack light.
