“How can you be sitting there, telling me that you care, when everytime I look around, the people suffer in their sufferings, in every way”- Bob Marley. An appropriate preface to another commentary on the Flu, as I continue to dig deeper, to create survivors. Indeed a part of the chorus of that song is WE ARE THE SURVIVORS…
The news continue to be bleak on the flu of this season. Significant numbers have died and more are suffering. It’s a paradoxical situation indeed, that in a country where you have the housing of so many health care organization and watchdogs, that the flu could creep upon people like a thief in the night and began to harass and even kill people.
Organizations like the following are supposed to be at the helm:
One-stop access to U.S. Government seasonal,H1N1, avian and pandemic flu information.
Washington D.C. · http://www.Flu.go
On top of these organizations are those health departments of the various states and territories.
Giving credit where credit is due, it is readily appreciated that great efforts have been instituted and undertaken to fight ailments and diseases. The big question therefore is why there seemed to be such magnitude of failure? Something must be eating at the root of these institutions and departments making them ineffective, and to cause the proliferation of diseases instead of conquering them. After all a tree cannot grow on the mound of a root-eating ground hog! We probably do not have the power to straighten this rudder and avoid the rocks but we do have the power to affect our own destiny, especially when there are so much alternatives outside of the system.
So I go back once again to the medicines of old time. The indigenous medicines of my grandmother, and those before her. Of course we are talking about Jamaica where I hailed from.
One of the most potent medicines against cold and flu back then was the combination of a special rum called John Crow Batty, and local herbs. Of all the many stories told about how it got it's name, this one is my favorite. A Rummer (hardcore imbiber) was given some to taste, upon the singing of his tongue he remarked “dis ya one stinker dan John crow Batty!(meaning this one is stinker than John Crow’s anus). Now John Crow is the local name for the carrion-eating Turkey Vultures and the excrement is supposed to be acidic and corrosive. Hence the correlation with that rum, now popularly called “JB”.
JB will extract juices and enzymes from the local herbs and sometimes insects like scorpions and spiders, to create a medicine that would sweat out the flu, knock out the flu, and chase the flu away, in a manner better than Mike Tyson disposing of opponents. The flu would also stay away, never to come back in that vicinity of your structure.
Once upon a time JB was a secret kept to certain locals because of its potency. It would only become available by the use of codes in the ears of certain watering hole’s attendant, and only the hardened Rummers would partake of it. Now JB is widely available like its lesser cousin the “whites” (Jamaican white over proof) JB packs a wallop of 80% alcohol/Vol. and a 160 overproof. No wonder it has made the list of the worlds strongest liquor. (See link).
This is yet another effort to inform you of what I know works to kill the flu, or to get rid of it. Until “no resident will say I am sick” Isaiah 33:24 maybe some herbs with rum might not be a bad idea. I am sure JIM TOM of Moonshines fame would agree with me too.
As we triumph over the bugs of our time, may we continue to help oneanother by the sharing of information that has been documented to work. So that we can shout and say we are the survivors! please read my other survival story from prostate cancer with other inspirational work at this link: (Amazon Author Central)
Until then walk good and pack light.
