Something impelled me to look into the PROSTATE CANCER situation again and this time with a bunch of disdain and even harrow. This month is dedicated to prostate cancer as an awareness month. I must have become redundant in my own thoughts and feelings as I continue to blow this horn. Redundant in my own thoughts and feelings as no one seems to care. I feel like John the Baptist of biblical times as a voice crying in the wilderness is what I seemed to be, or as the chirp of a dove under the deafening sounds of dogs bark.
This is PROSTATE CANCER MONTH. This is September 2012. What has “MAN” done to be classified as insignificant as “Mainly Another Noun”. If he is the one who spearhead civilization and slay the dragons so we can sleep at night and provide food for our hungry bellies, why is it no one wants to help him in an area that he obviously needs help in.
So here I am wailing like a baby in a basket-SEPTEMBER IS PROSTATE CANCER MONTH AND… NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE.
There are no blue ribbons flowing, no male gladiators wearing it in the sports they dominate, and no media broadcasting in the way they would do for breast cancer.
There is no call for action by significant peoples and no accolades and awards for those who survived. Indeed! Some of us have survived! Like shadrach, meshach and abednego, thrown in the fire but did never get burned. Yes! We were thrown in the lion’s pit of the disease but were not consumed. Now take that world! Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I beg no apologies for the vehemence of this article nor the fire in my speech. if I have to circle the waters like a nuclear submarine until the missile gets you that is what I will do.
…So we don’t die we survive. We did not fall upon Jagger rocks of an unforgiving ground like a bird kicked from its mothers nest (See my poem Little Young Bird ) those of us who survived have become that face; the face of triumph, even as above the odds. Look harder and you will see the face of faces (See my poem The Face of Faces). This is a survival face because we don’t die, but we survive.
Too many men and too many families have been devastated by the disease of prostate cancer and it does not have to be so. I have known some of them personal who suffered and you probably know some too. The big difference here is that I am trying to do something about. This is a war that certainly needs more soldiers, a band that could use more trumpeters, and a choir that could use more soprano carriers.
Obviously there is at least one official in the USA who is aware of the plight of men. President Barack Obama indeed! Please read his contribution here as he addressed the nation on the subject (President Obama's press release from the White House). Oh people help ring the alarm! another son is suffering! ring the alarm another son is dying! ring the alarm so that we can help return them… to a life of living.
Oh yes! As in the words of Bob Marley “No matter what the crisis is. Do it and live it up” Check his video here. ( Bob Marley: No Matter What the Crisis Is) And remember this WE DON’T DIE, WE SURVIVE!
Continue to look for part 2 - The real reasons we die. Till then walk good and pack light.
